The Village Community TEAM

The Village Community team is made up of enthusiastic, engaging,

and highly-effective staff who have a significant amount of experience and

are very passionate about what they do!  Meet our amazing team below:

Joe Taylor, Program Director, has been a friend to TVC families for many years through his work at local summer camps and as a teacher and Special Olympics coach for the ICCSD. Joe is well-known and respected throughout our community, and we are thrilled to have him heading up our programming and new Special Olympics delegation!

Being the parent of one of our members, Ann Brownsberger, Executive Director, brings a perspective that is unique and personal.  She has 22 years of experience working with families and coordinating services in this community and is committed to fulfilling The Village mission of ensuring that each member has an enriching and engaging experience.

Program Director, Karina O'Leary, came on board to help launch our day program in 2014.  And she was certainly a familiar face to many of our members, as she has known and/or provided care to several of our members since they were babies.  Her years of experience and endless amount of patience are real assets.  Karina is a kid at heart, and has a way of engaging with our members that always elicits big smiles!

A former Herky (yes!), Nate loves to make people laugh, and prides himself on making our members' days brighter. His favorite aspects of this job: helping the kids explore and figure out their interests, and then watching them learn, enjoy themselves, and try new things.

Kayloni has been with The Village Community since we first launched in 2013. She is a dedicated, enthusiastic direct support provider with several years of experience.  Kayloni seems to have an unlimited supply of energy and patience, and she has a special gift for engaging with our members.  We are SO lucky to have Kayloni on The Village Community team!

We were thrilled when Merrill accepted a position at TVC!  He has known many of our members since they were kids, and he has several years of experience in this area.  Merrill brings great energy and humor to the Village, and everyone loves to hang out with him.

In high school, Joe K. was involved in a few programs with special needs students. But when he came to Iowa City, he was disappointed to learn that the UI did not have a Special Olympics program.  So... he recruited volunteers, secured funding, and launched one himself!

About working at TVC, Joe says,

"Everyone involved has a genuine interest in the mission and vision of The Village, which translates into hard work, kindness, and love for all of the members."

Jennifer has experienced caring for her young niece who has Autism, and she is proficient in American Sign Language (ASL), being hard of hearing herself.  Jennifer says she took this job to "make a difference" in the lives of our members, and she is doing just that!

Jenna appreciates working with such a passionate, positive, and dedicated team! And she loves the Village property, saying "It is beautiful out here, and there is such an abundance of things to explore and activities to do - many of which still remain to be discovered."
